Pairing and Engine System: Official FIDE / Gacrux Standard
1. System Overview
The program features an advanced Swiss System pairing engine (Dutch
Variant) fully compliant with the latest World Chess Federation (FIDE) rules
and the benchmarks set by the official Gacrux / JaVaFo engines. Pairings are
computed using a recursive backtracking optimization algorithm guided by a
penalty-point weight system (Cost Function).
2. Key Algorithmic Pillars

Dutch Pairing Layout: Players within the same score group are split into two halves
(top S1 and bottom S2). The system pairs the top of S1 against the top of S2 (e.g.,
1–4, 2–5). This maximizes sports fairness and builds standard tournament tension.

Color Preference Optimization: The engine strictly enforces absolute FIDE
rules (no player can receive the same color 3 times in a row; absolute color
balance cannot exceed +/-2). Furthermore, it optimizes relative preferences,
heavily prioritizing pairings that restore a perfect color balance (0).

Score Group Management (Mating & Floaters): When a score group
contains an odd number of players, a transition (Downfloater) is required. The
engine implements a heavy Gacrux penalty (5000 points) for consecutive
floaters, preventing the same player from being dropped into a lower score
group two rounds in a row.

FIDE Virtual Opponent Model: To preserve tie-break integrity (Buchholz,
Sonneborn-Berger), unplayed rounds (Byes, Forfeits) are not evaluated as 0
points. Instead, the engine generates a Virtual Opponent utilizing the official
FIDE end-of-tournament formula.

Official FIDE TRF Export: The application exports a fully verified Tournament
Report File (TRF). All data strictly aligns with the column 92 metric required by
FIDE rating servers, and opponent IDs are perfectly cross-referenced with
their final tournament standings.

- The program supports all modern Tie-Break systems:

- Direct Encounter
- Sonneborn-Berger
- Koya System
- Buchholz
- Median-Buchholz
- Buchholz Cut 1
- Buchholz Cut 2
- Number of Wins
- Number of Wins as Black
- Number of Games as Black
- Kashdan System
- Tournament Performance Rating
- Cumulative Scores
- Cumulative Opponents' Scores
- Performance of Opponents
- Extra for Black (BAP system)
- Average Rating of Opponents
- Average Rating of Opponents Cut 1

- Tie-break rule: The first parameter is points and the second is always direct encounter. Additionally, you are required to choose at least two custom parameters. In total, you can select up to 4 parameters out of 17 options.

- Optional: The program supports the "Rating Performance" display option.

Pairing System Options:
- JaVaFo (Dutch System): Standard FIDE-compliant Swiss pairing engine.
- Accelerated Pairings (Bucharest): Accelerated Swiss system for open tournaments.Color AllocationManual color draw for top seed: Manually choose the top seed's first-round color.Automatic allocation: Top-seeded player automatically receives white pieces if manual draw is disabled.

- The program features an integrated FIDE Rating List Editor, allowing you to download the latest official player database. When adding players to a tournament, you can easily select them directly from this register. The program also fully supports the official player register of the Slovenian Chess Federation.
- The software automatically calculates ELO rating changes according to official FIDE regulations, utilizing the expected score calculation tables. When creating a new tournament, you can easily select whether the event will be rated or unrated.
- If a tournament is rated, you can save the final achieved ELO ratings of the players upon the tournament's conclusion. This option is highly beneficial for club managers, as unrated players can obtain an initial club rating that closely approximates the performance level they would likely achieve in official events. The program stores the updated rating and automatically loads this latest data for the next tournament, though manual adjustments remain available.
- To enable the Elo player calculation feature, club players must be added to the database.

The program supports the following functions:

- Player Registry Editor with the option to update the official FIDE list
- Comprehensive tournament reporting
- Displaying tournament strength for categorization (FIDE Categories)
- Data export options to PDF, Excel, and TRF formats
- Tie-break legend (a detailed list of parameter meanings)
- ELO rating calculation editor
- Diploma and certificate printing (for a selected number of players)
- Club ELO calculator (ideal for club managers to manage unrated players)
- Data export and import utility for seamless software version upgrades

- Please test the software with dummy/imaginary players before using it in an official tournament.

- Language support: English and Slovenian.

- OS Support: XP,Windows 7,Windows 10 (and newer).
- Licence: Free Trial (limited to a maximum of 15 players).
